Our People
Farm Profits is a business who foundation is based on its dedicated passionate team. We offer a variety of career development opportunities, including Herd Management, Pasture Management and Dairy Hand Positions. We also offer traineeships.
We offer an inclusive family-friendly environment and are dedicated to providing a lifestyle that balances work and family.
We have teams who are dedicated to milking, feeding and monitoring our herd. Our technicians and veterinarians keep track of our herd's health.
Our pasture and maintenance team is key right across the farm, maintaining pasture health and the vast range of plant and equipment that also sustains the dairy farm.
Our Farm
The progressive farm runs a herd of 700 cows, using a 60 rotary dairy with automatic cup removers, cow heat detection, teat spraying and drafting systems.
The herd is primarily based on Holstein genetics, although Jersey bulls are used over the heifers.
Milk is produced all year round, achieved by batch calving. Extended lactations are used to minimise stress on cows and reduce cows culled for infertility.
The operation includes highly productive pastures which provide the basis for excellent quality milk and high in-calf rates.
Pasture Management
Our team work with our land to grow healthy and nutritious food for our cows, using the latest equipment and technology, including GPS Guidance. We use the latest innovations to sow and harvest our crops.
Pasture makes up 80% of the diet, and the main species used are kikuyu, ryegrass and lucerne (alfalfa).
The farm’s emphasis on a pasture-based system, leads to pasture utilised on the milking platform of 10 tonnes of dry matter per hectare, which is well above average for Australian non-irrigated farms.
Our Cows
Our cows well-being is our number one priority.
When our calves are born they recieve the highest quality of care to ensure the best possible start in life.
Our calves and cows are free to graze on pasture that is carefully grown utilising the most recent scientific knowlege on pasture feeding.
Our silage is grown here on our farm, so we know exactly what our cows are being fed.
The farm invests in the latest milking techologies, with the Healthy cow 24 program which montiors rumination and activity to assess the health and reproductive performance of our cows.
We ensure that the milking process is a comfortable experience for our cows.
